In early September, we completed a network setup at Mill Park in Wesley Vale for a client moving into new premises.
The client needed a WiFi network set up across the new building, but the construction made coverage difficult. The building is made from cinder-block and metal, so the signal wouldn’t reach through it effectively. A single access point was never going to cover the whole place.
To solve the problem, we set up a UniFi mesh so the coverage carries across the entire building. We also managed the NBN transition across to the new site, making sure the connection was live and ready for them when they moved in. All of their devices moved across seamlessly.
The setup included UniFi access points in a mesh, PoE injectors, and conduit and cabling supplied by us. The NBN relocation was handled through 2tel.
The network is also fully managed rather than simply installed and forgotten. We’re notified if the network goes down, and we keep the system updated and patched.
The final result was a fast move with solid WiFi coverage throughout the whole building. The client is also looking to continue developing the network from here to support security cameras.
The walls were the main challenge on this job. Cinder-block and metal can stop WiFi signal dead, so this was never going to be a case of putting a router in a corner and hoping for the best. The mesh network is what made reliable coverage across the building possible.
